Digital Photography 101: Weekend Edition

Another session of Digital Photography 101: Weekend Edition is complete, and I have to say, this was an awesome class! Not only do we have terrific students – friendly, want to learn and have fun, and up to the challenge! — but we had a very nice break from the classroom and the extreme heat by way of F1 Race Factory in Phoenix.

F1 Race Factory is an indoor cart racing track. They do leagues, individual racing, group and corporate events, and have what looks like a really fun rock climbing wall. They were nice enough to allow our students, cameras in hand, out into the safe areas of the track to practice our panning lesson. The carts are loud and fast– what a ride!! And perfect to practice shooting motion. I think this was the first class we’ve had where every student really got the hang of panning the first
time out (which isn’t easy!) and being at F1 definitely aided in that success.  So a big Thank You to F1 Race Factory! We like your name.

StudioLighting.net interview

Mark and I are excited to tell you all about an interview we did for StudioLighting.net. This site is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of photography and, of course, studio lighting. Published by Bill Crawford and Ed Hidden, the site offers tutorials, tips, equipment reviews, book lists and podcasts.

It’s in the podcasts you’ll hear great interviews with industry pros like Gray Scott and your very own Mark and Diane Wallace. We don’t yet know the date that our interview will be published, but look for it online at studiolighting.net. And take some time to explore their site- it’s an excellent resource. Happy shooting!

Those of you who know me know that my favorite thing to shoot is emotion. So I figured a really great way for me to have that opportunity (aside from hijacking my friends’ children and perfectly good days at the park) is to shoot weddings. I won’t be giving up my makeup art and corporate work any time soon, but weddings will allow me to explore photographic opportunities that I wouldn’t otherwise have. I’m looking forward to shooting more of them. In the meantime, view Diane’s Weddings here.
