Digital Photography 1 on 1: Episode 2

Halloween Shoot

We just finished a 3 day shoot for a Halloween costume catalog.  It was a lot of fun and the photos look great.  Here’s one of my favorites from the shoot.

Angel

Ian & Jessica

I’ve just realized that we never blogged a very happy event - Jess and Ian’s Lucky Day (7–7–07) wedding. We’ve known them for some time so we were thrilled for them when the big day finally came. It was a beautiful wedding and of course we have a million images to get through now. (I swear I’m working on them, Jess!) Until they’re all ready, here’s one to enjoy now.

Congratulations Jessica & Ian!

Video Production

Last night we spent some time in the studio working on more Video Q&A for our students and StudioLighting.net segments. Here’s a look behind the scenes: Mark, model Megan A. and newly-recruited cameraman Craig tackled the burning question of how to properly set white balance, both in camera and in Photoshop. That video camera you see is going away in favor of a brand new HD camera (arriving soon!) and look for Megan in our big Halloween shoot happening next week!

DP 1 on 1: Episode 1

In this episode I explain how the shutter works, shutter sync, and how to control the ambient light exposure while using a flash.

New Video Series: 1 on 1

Here’s a sneak peek at our new video series that we’re developing with StudioLighting.net. Your comments are welcome.

Studio Lighting news!

The next Studio Lighting 101 class is available for registration! This full-day workshop reviews the ins and outs of lighting in a studio setting, focusing on portrait work. We’ll discuss qualities of light and how to discuss light, and spend a very hands-on afternoon where students become the lead photographer and set up their own portrait sessions (we’ll show you how!) The next class is Saturday, July 14, and you can register online here.

Also, look for our big interview about our studio, classes and more on the popular website StudioLighting.net

Mark and I recently did an interview with Bill and Ed, publishers of the site, and are looking forward to joining the ranks of great photographers they’ve featured. We don’t know the air date yet, but keep an eye on their site for lots of great news
and information!
