Ann & Chris

I had the pleasure of shooting a beautiful, intimate wedding on Friday night. Congratulations Ann & Chris! I hope this is only the start of an amazing life together!

ceremony
They had a great minister and the ceremony was both touching and fun. It’s always nice to have something that reflects the bride and groom, who laugh together all the time.

puppy Phoebe, she’s SO cute and needs a great home!

Today I went to photograph the Animals Benefit Club of Arizona pet sanctuary. This is a *beautiful* animal rescue facility in North Phoenix, with big yards, big pens for the animals to stay in- the dogs even have doors from their indoor kennels out to outdoor spaces so they can go out whenever they want. I was so impressed with this place. They even have someone who lives on the property, and she’s amazing.

I’d honestly never heard of this group before, but went when Kristi at Perfectify Magazine asked me to write up something for the September issue– apparently, the group is having a bit of a financial crunch and really needs some funding to stay open. If you can help in any way, I highly encourage you to visit this 501c3 organization. Or just go to the website- www.AnimalsBenefitClub.com. A lot of animals would be in real trouble without them.

Ben, a Siberian Husky, who survived third degree burns all over his face and body after being in a devastating fire before being rescued and brought to ABC. He’s healing up great and also needs a special home. (He is blind in one eye and has partial sight in the other, but he is an amazingly gentle and sweet dog!)

I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with Chef Nick of Sautee Bistro in Chandler today. He’s sharing cooking tips in Perfectify Magazine, but try out the bistro for a really yummy evening out! (try the stuffed mushrooms! mmmm…)

Episode 9 shoot

Yesterday the video team got together and we shot Digital Photography Episode 9.  It was terrific to have all the extra hands to make the new video.  We finished all the production work in 6.5 hours – that is one of the shortest video shoots we’ve ever had.  And that included set-up, travel time, location shooting, b-roll, and voice-over.

Here are a few shots the gang took during the shoot.

Mark and Drew
Mark showing Drew a few things on the camera.  The big wooden thing is our homemade teleprompter. The camera is behind the glass.

Daniel, Drew, and Diane
Daniel, Drew, and Diane. Daniel was running the camera, Drew was operating the teleprompter, and Diane was directing. Daniel and Diane also helped demo the bags in the video.  These guys has skillz.

Yasmin
Yasmin waiting for her cue.  Yasmin kept track of all of the takes, made sure we got all of the scenes in the camera, and was responsible for continuity (making sure all the b-roll was properly captured).  Oh – she also helped demo the bags in the video.

Look for the new episode to be posted later this week!

Here are just a couple of the many great shots of Yasmin from our session yesterday. Diane did a great job with the Hair/Makeup as usual.  Great work everyone!

Halfway there…

Our current Digital Photography 101 class just finished week 4, so we’re halfway to the finish line.  Last night I set up my camera and put a PocketWizard on it so I could take shots during class.  I snapped this one while students were working out an exercise (if you look closely you can see the Pocket Wizard in my left hand).

As usual the class is a lot of fun. I always enjoy getting to know everyone and seeing the creativity of their shots.  This class is no exception – we have a bunch of very cool people in this class.

We have one more Digital Photography 101 class scheduled for this year.  I won’t be teaching this workshop again until 2009 so I can take a break.  I’ll be using the time to create a DVD set for all of those people who’d like to take the class but live in other cities.  We’re shooting to have the DVD set finished by Christmas.  I’ll keep you posted.

If you’re interested in enrolling in the August 19 class you better act fast! The class is almost full and it’s first come first served. But don’t worry, if you miss it we’ll have another class ready to go in January 2009.
