Shannon’s first photo session.
Last Saturday I taught another Studio Lighting 101 workshop. The class was small and we had a lot of fun. Here are a few snapshots from the day.

Lots of business portraits lately! Here’s one of the more serious side of Francisco. He chose some that were happier-looking, but I thought he also looked great in this shot.

Just a reminder, we have a few workshops left for 2008. On September 20, 2008 we’ll be hosting another Studio Lighting 101 workshop. Caroline Diep will be our model.
We also have another Digital Photography 101 workshop scheduled for 2008. That 8–week session begins October 2nd. We’ve sold out our last two sessions so sign up soon to make sure you get a spot.
All of our classes are listed at: classes.snapfactory.com and that’s the best place to check for the latest updates. We’ve already started adding dates for 2009 workshops.

Meet Marley, one of the many fantastic dogs currently available for adoption at the Arizona Humane Society. I’m happy to volunteer to photograph these wonderful animals to help them find new families; and I know they’re wonderful because I get to play with them! Our dog Luka brings so much joy into our home and I think everyone should have such a great family member.
From time to time I’ll post a few puppy portraits, but you can always visit the AZ Humane Society online at www.AZHumane.org. By some accounts, Arizona has the second highest number of homeless animals in the country. You can help by donating, volunteering, making a commitment to your pets for life, and maybe most importantly, spaying or neutering your pets to help reduce the overall number of unwanted animals.

Bear– a sweet, older hound dog

Tollie – a GREAT dog! she’s so affectionate and playful

Chubbs – a gorgeous red dog who’s shy at first but warms up quickly

Congratulations are in order for Jeni, a very good friend of ours: she’ll be appearing at tonight’s VMAs in L.A. with PINK! Looks like she’s on her way to taking over that town!

Yeay! Our blog is working again!
I’ve been trying to post this awesome photo-one of many from a recent session with entrepreneur extraordinaire Denise K. This one is right out of the camera!
For those of you who’ve asked for details of the photos we post: This was shot at 500 ISO (I know, but I think my 1D Mark 2 handles it well), indoors with an on-camera Quantum flash, 130mm, f/4 at 1/100 sec. The flash was bounced off the ceiling and a window at camera left gave us some nice catch lights.
