    Absolutely. You can store the catalog anywhere you like. You can even move it from one hard drive to another with no issue, as long as the photos stay in the same directory. The reason for storing your catalog on the internal hard drive is that it allows you to work on your photos even when your external hard drive is disconnected – as long as you are using Smart Previews.

    I just got my first DSLR this last week and am so excited to learn photography.
    Most of the post-production videos though, use Lightroom for all their purposes and I don’t have money to buy the licensed Lightroom for retouching the photos I take.
    I tried to see many open-source freeware like Shotwell or Rawtherapee, but non give the one feature I want the most: Local control using adjustment brush.
    Is there something you can suggest?
